Fished western Colorado, including some lakes on Grand Mesa and the Gunnison River near Delta. Two of us limited out on Rainbows every morning in the lakes and fed the rest of the group who were busy hunting elk. On the last day we fished a Gold Medal section of the Gunnison. My fishing buddy pulled out a number of Rainbows and Browns from about 9 to 15 inches. I started out with a feisty little creek chub and then a 6-inch Rainbow. It was pretty discouraging until the last cast of the day when I switched from small nymphs to a Foxee Clouser Minnow and a heavier tippet. Caught a healthy 25.7" Brown on my little 4-wt, tricked him into the net, took a quick photo, and let him go. Funny how things happen on that "one last cast...".
