Spent several days at Boy Scout Camp Powhattan in the Blue Ridge Mountains Council, teaching a course on how to run a fishing program at summer camp. Part of the training included hands-on fly tying, knot tying, casting, and of course fishing. Since their coldwater lake had recently been stocked with Rainbow Trout, we tied on some home-made Bead Head Pheasant Tail and Bead Head Hare's Ear nymphs and caught a number of 15" to 18" fish. In the evening we switched to Black Gnat Parachute and Adams Parachute dry flies and continued to connect. Several participants caught their first fish on a fly. I caught my first trout on a dry fly. Each of us caught 8-10 trout, with a number of smaller Warmouth, Pumpkinseed, etc. as well. All fish were fat and healthy. Fun on a 4-wt!
